A quick bugfix release.

This new version of AACGain fixes a serious problem with copyright tags which will affect anyone using aacgain on files downloaded from the iTunes music store. See the included README file for more info. This also updates the version of AACGain packaged with the iGain installer to version 1.6. No changes were made to iGain itself. These are to be found on the AAC page, as usual. (The update is dated 16 April.)

The design we are using currently at this site fit our needs perfectly when it was first created, some 4 years ago, and for that I am very grateful to Ruairi and Darin. But let's face it: these days, it sucks. Terribly. If you don't believe me, just go to the Vorbis page and try to find your way there.

Obviously, this will not do. So, I would like to invite webdesigners to get in touch with me in case they are willing to work on a new design for RareWares. Of course, I won't be able to pay you a dime, since I make no money whatsoever from this site myself, but you will be credited at the about page and at the bottom of every single page.

Josh Coalson released v1.1.4 and a Win32 compile is now at the Lossless section.

Thomas Becker just released a new lossless codec called TAK (Tom's lossless Audio Kompressor) that promises compression performance similar to Monkey's Audio "High" and decompression speed similar to FLAC! The development is still in early stages, so no playback yet - only encoding and decoding. But further goodies are bound to show up.

The LAME alpha 11 compiles have now been updated to the latest CVS head. The Direct Show filter finally works correctly. The compile date is 14 January and these are all ICL9.1 compiles.

Dirac is a general-purpose video codec aimed at resolutions from QCIF (176x144) to HDTV (1920x1080) progressive or interlaced. It uses wavelets, motion compensation and arithmetic coding and aims to be competitive with other state of the art codecs. See the Sourceforge project site for more information.
