  I don't use Safari (and I'm not able to), but according to this blog, it doesn't:

  Well, it was posted on March 2004 which was quite a while ago, but I haven't found any news saying that soft hyphens are supported.

  Not sure how far back it goes, but I just created a test case and looked at it with Safari 2.0.2 on OS X Tiger. It seems to behave correctly -- the hyphen is only shown when the word is broken at the end of a line. I do have an older copy of OmniWeb which is based on WebKit 1.2 and displays the old behavior, so it may have been fixed in the switch from 1.2 to 2.0. If that's the case, it's possible it might also be fixed in 1.3, which was released for Panther (OSX 10.3) around the time Safari 2.0 was released as part of Tiger (OSX 10.4).

  Thanks for the help Kelson. I was hoping Safari 2.0 would have support for it at least.
