Way To Go Netscape!

Hah. I was just updating my installation of Netscape 8, and during the download and installation process I was shown a nice little flash (?) tutorial. Here’s the funny bit:

Well, I’m not accusing them of lying. But I think they’ve missed this one tiny point: The user doesn’t want to have millions of security choices.

Netscape 8 definately is a mess when it comes preferences and suchlike. I was utterly astounded, just now, when I was poking around the toolbars a bit.

Now, I know this is no news to anyone who’s ever read a write-up of Netscape 8, but i just thought it was so funny I had to post it…

I don’t quite follow you here. Netscape 8 does have all the security features that Firefox does, right? It can also use extensions, right?

Yes, it does. But it also has another truckload of security features and options on top of that. Here are som screenshots. First three are security related options, the last one is the tabbed browsing options – just to give you the full picture…Passcard optionsSite ControlsMore Site ControlsTabbed Browsing options

Wow, the Datacard and Passcard dialog has tabs within tabs, within tabs. Exactly what all us users really want! Great!By the way, you are the only person I now know that uses this browser.

José: I don’t actually use it either. I’ve just tried it out really. I use Firefox for all my real browsing.
