Full-text blog feediRiver supports Ogg Vorbis
I realize I was a little slow on this one, but I have just noticed that the iRiver iFP-700 and iFP-800 series, as well as the H300 series, support the Ogg Vorbis audio format. Sadly, iRiver seem to have decided to cut the Ogg support for their newer players. Hopefully they will put it back, because, since I discovered the greatness of Ogg a while back, I decided to rip all my CD's using Ogg instead of MP3. Maybe I'll have to hurry up and get an iFP-700 or 800 before they stop making them...

iRiver ogg support is quite inferior to the ogg support in the Jens of sweden players and IOPS (jens are just rebranded IOPS). Second place goes to various Samsung products.
The differences are that the better support will handle higher bitratres without breaking up or slowing down. Given that ogg tends to be encoded at varying bitrates, even conservative encoding can cause trouble on an iRiver.

Yes, I read about that somewhere (that iRiver Ogg support is a bit flaky).
Thanks for the info. If I ever get round to getting an "ogg player", maybe it'll be a Jens of Sweden.
